Don’t Stop Praying

Daily Devotional for May 6th

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.  Acts 10:1-2

We’ve read all throughout scripture of the worldwide results of prayer.  Prayer is one of the most powerful weapons possessed by Christians.  As a matter of fact, prayer is one of the most powerful forces in the world!  There are many men and women of God who were used by Him in great and mighty ways.  Their secret centered around a fervent commitment and dedication to prayer.

The very thought of prayer reveals a submission to the Lord.  The existence of prayer demonstrates your inability to change circumstances in this life.  If you do not pray regularly, what message does that send to yourself and to God?  A man or woman who does not pray is implying to the world they have no need for help from the Lord.  We all need the Lord greatly in our lives.  Prayer is one of the ways our inner man gains spiritual strength.  We gain spiritual strength through prayer, worship, reading/studying God’s word, and fellowship with other Christians.

Life, with all of its uncertainty and ability to adversely vex every child of God, attempts to beat us down and bring us into bondage and woe.  However, prayer is the means by which we can “Cast our cares on Him; for He cares for us!”  Prayer is precious in the eyes of God.  God longs to hear from you and me.

Satan tempts us in so many different ways.  When you decide to pray, he will attempt to refocus your purpose.  When you’re in the midst of praying, distractions will come to take your mind off of coming unto the Lord.  Satan knows prayer is a powerful weapon against his plans!  Prayer diffuses his arsenal.  Prayer disarms and defeats his armies.  Don’t stop praying, friend!  God will do great things for you if you will persist in prayer.
