The Joy of the Lord – Daily Devotion for May 2nd

The Joy of the Lord

Daily Devotional for May 2nd

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.  Nehemiah 8:10

Great is the mystery of a fulfilling life!  Living your life with joy seems to be easy for some while a deep struggle for others.  Some people go through life without experiencing the joy Jesus came and died to provide, while many people have.  It’s a wonderful thing; not to be compare to anything else in this life.

Contrary to what the world says, joy is not the possessing of things, nor is it the experiencing of things! Joy rests in a person; and that person is Jesus Christ!  Did you know sin will make you miserable?  Do you realize that sin brings depression?  Do you realize the world’s craving for drugs and alcohol is due to the need to be released from the unbearable condition of their life, if only for a little while?

Many people today have resorted to this world’s drugs of the world in order to cope.  Life is not easy, friend!  It can be discouraging unless we turn to Jesus as our pilot.  Jesus said The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life’ and that they might have it more abundantly. ( John 10:10)

Doctors have prescribed medications for enduring anxieties, nerve, and mental troubles.  They are only crutches that bring you into a deeper bondage.  They may numb your senses, but they will not remove your problems.  Only Jesus can do this!  Will you ask the Lord to come and heal your broken heart?  Do you have anxiety over traumatic events that have taken place in your life?  Drugs are not the answer!  Jesus is!  He will heal your heart.  He will remove the hurt if you will call on His name today.  If you have allowed Jesus full access to your life, you will have no need for drugs, whether they be recreational or prescription.
