Looking Unto Jesus – Daily Devotion for May 3rd

Looking Unto Jesus

Daily Devotional for May 3rd

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

Vision is so important to the world. It is vision that determines our direction.  Without vision we would not know where we are going.  We would not know the destination of our journey.  Vision reveals dangers, disasters and pitfalls that forces us to change direction in order to avoid them.

When you were born again, you looked to Jesus Christ for the first time and experienced the great change that came because of it. You learned that viewing Jesus is the most wonderful sight to behold anyway!  In order to follow Him, your eyes must become fixed; continually focused on Him.  Why?  Because the devil will stop at nothing to draw you away from Jesus whom you have your eyes set on.

One of Satan’s methods is to distract you; to turn your attention away from Jesus. Satan cannot defeat Jesus at all.  When your eyes are on Jesus as the author and finisher of you faith, it means that you have placed your faith in Christ to be victorious.  Once you do this, victory comes and Satan can’t stop it!  His only method of victory from this point is to turn your attention elsewhere.

A backslidden life is a result of our attention turning from Jesus to something else. According to this verse, we are instructed to continually look to Jesus. Jesus should always be the focus of our life.   Continual victory is a reality as long as our eyes stay fixed and focused on Jesus.  Have you allowed your vision to be turned to something else?  Are you trusting in something else today to bring victory in your life?  If it’s something other than Jesus, then failure is coming.  If you feel your victory is fading and Satan is getting the upper hand on you, then return your vision to Jesus.  Look unto Jesus for victory!
