Are You Hearing the Sound of Stones?
Daily Devotional for April 8th
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. Luke 19:39-40
When the Lord performs a work in you, the proper response is always praise and worship. We are obviously not capable of responding with anything else. Every time God gives unto us a blessing, “Thank you Lord” should always come from our lips. Once we realize that everything we have, everything we possess, and everything we will ever have is blessing from God, praise will continually flow from our hearts.
Have you ever found yourself being muffled by those who see your worship as inappropriate or even offensive? Religion cannot praise the Lord. Religion also seeks to hush the mouths of those who do. The Pharisees here sought to hush the mouths of Jesus’ disciples as they all cried out “Hosanna” , “Blessed be the king that cometh in the name of the Lord.” The religious world was thriving until Jesus came into this world. Religion and Jesus cannot coexist. Worshippers will either hold their peace or religion will theirs.
Jesus revealed to the religious crowd that the stones would cry out if these held their peace. The reason was simple. When the king enters the city, there will be welcome and praise for Him! When God descended on Mt Sinai, the rocks shook. The rocks responded to God’s presence. When God revealed Himself to Moses at the burning bush, the ground Moses stood upon was holy. The rocks on which Moses stood had changed. All creation, from mankind all the way down to a rock, has been created by God and knows their creator when He enters our lives.
Have you allowed the religious crowd to bring you to silence? Has God performed great things in your life but religious people have sought to hush you? Religion does not want you testifying to what Jesus has done, but they cannot stop you. Lift up your voice. Rejoice today and testify to those around you all the things God has done in your life. Don’t allow the stones to rejoice because you wont. Give God the praise for everything He has done!
