A Surrendered Life – Daily Devotion for March 16th

A Surrendered Life

Daily Devotional for March 16th

And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:41-42

In this world there are so many things you can spend your energy doing. Many people wind up going down a path to seek after fleshly pleasures, while others spend every waking moment trying to gain another dollar.  We tend to look at the perceived contentment in the lives of others and chase those same things to gain it in our own lives.

As we have said before, it is the inner man who longs for joy but we attempt to satisfy this inner man with things of the world. It is only when the will of man aligns with the will of God that peace and contentment comes.  Why is that?  It’s because God created you and His purpose for you is the only choice that will bring peace.

Jesus came to this world because it was the will of the Father. Jesus’ life was spent doing the Father’s business.  (Luke 2:49) He had said that He does those things that please the Father. (John 8:29)  Now just before Jesus goes to the cross, He prays earnestly in the garden of Gethsemane.  There is clearly a struggle; a wrestling between the will of the flesh of Jesus and the will of God.  Sometimes it won’t be an easy choice to surrender to God’s will.  Sometimes the devil will make it a harder choice to surrender to God, but the results cannot be compared.

God’s will is always in your best interests. You can spend you life trying to satisfy your own desires, hopes and  dreams only to lose out on the happiness and joys life can bring.  But when we throw up the white flag in surrender and quit fighting is when peace will come.  It is when we “throw in the towel” so to speak, and seek the will of God that your whole life will be satisfied.  There’s peace in joining yourself to God’s will.  Surrender to Him today.
