Where Your Heart Is – Daily Devotion for February 23rd

Where Your Heart Is

Daily Devotional for February 23rd

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:21

It has been said many times get your head in the game or concentrate on what your doing.  There is a lot of talk about distractions and how that our eyes can become refocused to a point where we lose focus on the more important things.  It is as if something else gets our attention.  But when it comes to things that drive our lives, it’s not the head that is engaged, it’s the heart.

Satan does not care what your attention is on just as long as it is not on Jesus. The devil cares very little about whether you deliberately bow down to him, as long as you err from Jesus.  The secret though is the heart.  Whatever you choose to love will be the thing that controls your life.  The bible teaches us that we are not to love the world, neither the things that are in the world.  The reason is simple; you will run to that thing you love.

The bible is specific in the sense that it teaches that we are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind.  Many times we serve God because we know that it is the right thing to do.  However, we may have given our heart over to something else.  In the end, our hearts desires are manifest for the world to see.

Your heart is a very powerful thing. The heart is the place where your passions live.  Your passions drive your life.  It’s amazing that in the course of our lives, there may be a lot of things we involve ourselves in, but there are very few things that we are passionate about.  Your passion reveals where your heart is.  The things you value the most speak well of where your heart is.  As Jesus revealed, your treasure reveals your heart.  Some people

Where is your heart? You may have served God faithfully in the past, but what is the present focus of your heart?  Our commitment to the Lord in righteousness is all due to our love for God.  We cannot be effective in our relationship or walk with the Lord unless our heart is engaged.  Spend some time examining your heart by really asking yourself where your treasure really is.  If Jesus is not your greatest treasure, then your heart has drifted from where it needs to be.
