Faith In His Blood
Daily Devotional for February 4thWhom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Romans 3:25
The message that is preached today in many churches across our land is not the message Paul preached and wrote about to the Romans. You can preach repentance but never preach the Cross. You can preach forgiveness but never preach the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The gospel message is and has always been very simple; you must come to God placing your faith in the work Jesus did at Calvary for your sin and asking Him to cleanse you from sin with His precious blood. Once you ask in faith and accept that He has done just that, you will be saved.
The cross has been ignored in most churches today in large part because it has not been understood. However, when Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he told them I determined to know nothing among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2. Why? Because this is the message; the foundation upon which the church is built upon. Your foundation cannot be on repentance only. Your faith cannot be in forgiveness only. It cannot be in anything except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
All throughout the Old Testament, there is great reference to blood sacrifice for sin. God revealed to Cain that He would be accepted if he would simply offer the correct sacrifice. The same thing exists today. Your faith cannot be in anything else than the blood; not just any blood, but faith in His blood. God has ordained to work in people’s lives, but only through the Cross. Once you place your faith in the blood Jesus shed on the cross, something amazing happens. Since God has chosen to give grace through the blood of Calvary’s cross, the power of God will flow to you giving you grace.
You may already be saved by God’s grace but wrestling; struggling with some sin. What is your faith in today for victory? While others will put their trust in what they can do, they are destined to remain defeated. A lack of victory is always evidence of a lack of faith in His blood. However, if you’ll place your faith in His blood, the wonderful power of God will give grace to you to, not only forgive you of that sin, but also purge you and give you victory over it. This victory only comes through faith in His blood.
