Daily Devotional for January 26th
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. Daniel 6:10-11
The importance of a daily commitment to prayer and devotion to God cannot be stressed enough. In order to have God’s victory over the sin and Satan, we must walk in the Spirit. In order to walk in the Spirit, we must live in the Spirit. In order to live in the Spirit, we must keep our faith anchored in Christ. We must also keep a continual communication with the Lord through prayer.
Out of all the things the devil fights against in our lives, our prayer life is at the very top. When he attacks us, he targets our devotion. The reason is quite simple, if your relationship and communication with the Lord is compromised, then every other area of your Christian life will be effected. It is through prayer and devotion that we keep a surrendered heart. It is through prayer and worship where we experience the wonderful presence of our God. It is the presence of God where joy comes Psalms 16:11, and the joy of the Lord is our strength. Nehemiah 8:10.
The men who served in the kingdom of Babylon alongside Daniel knew his impeccable character. They knew full well that they could not catch him in wickedness. This was due to one simple truth; Daniel maintained daily devotion to God. He prayed upon his knees three times a day. Is it a surprise that this would be the focus of their attack?
Keep your guard on your prayer life. When Satan may not be attacking you anywhere else, he will attack your devotion. Make sure you give attendance to reading the word. Make sure you maintain a healthy prayer life. If your communication with the Lord is vital to you, then your commitment to God will be shown in every area of your life.
