Standing in the Power of God

Daily Devotional for January 16th

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Our generation is plagued by many things that have held us back from seeing the power of God move mightily within us. It is absolutely true that God desires to manifest His glory to you, in you and through you! God has in every generation decreed that He would be the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 God provided the means when Jesus; His Son, was crucified upon Calvary’s Cross, but it is extended to you once you place your faith rests in that work Jesus accomplished.

The question that stands before us today is simply this; what is your faith standing in? Are you as the Jews or Greeks? Paul revealed that Jews seek a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom. These were actually methods that persuaded them to believe. In other words, if the Jews saw a sign, that sign would convince them to believe. If the Greeks could be taught in a way where it would make sense to them, then they would believe. These are all erroneous ways of believing because Satan can manipulate you in these same ways. But God has ordained that your faith should stand in the power of God.

Paul preached Christ crucified to them for a specific reason. He did not preach with eloquent words or with man’s wisdom, but he preached a message of power and what that message would accomplish in every life who would believe and receive it. Are you content with your Christian experience without the power and moving of the Holy Spirit? It is the will of God that our faith stand alone; not in what an eloquent speaker has declared or what a famous teacher has taught, but in nothing else but the power of God.

When you call out to God in response to the message, He will break every chain of bondage within you, set you free and save you by His power, The Lord has ordained that He would move upon you when you hear the message of Jesus Christ and His power to redeem and set you free from every bondage and chain. It is that power of God that He wants your faith to rest in. If you’ve experienced God’s power being demonstrated in your own life, then your faith is anchored and nothing Satan can do will pull you from God. If someone has been intellectually persuaded into believing in something, then someone else can persuade them away from it. God desires that His power is what you anchor your faith in. Because of this simple truth, God has bound Himself to move on your behalf. Look to Calvary today and trust in the work Jesus accomplished. When you do, you’ll see the power of God come to you in such a way that no devil in Hell can pull you from God.

  1. “God desires that His power is what you anchor your faith in. Because of this simple truth, God has bound Himself to move on your behalf.” This is what I need to grasp and stand upon. So well said, thank you.

  2. Sister Lisa, thank you so much for your continued interest and encouraging comments! You’re truly a blessing to us!
This devotion has been stirring in my spirit for quite some time now. I preached along these lines recently as the Lord led me, but I didn’t feel as though the Holy Spirit was finished with it as it pertained to how He wanted me to share it. Even though this devotion came, I still feel as though the Holy Spirit wants to take us further with it. Thanks again for your kind words. If these are a blessing to you, feel free to share them!
