Allegiance To One – Daily Devotion for December 26th

Allegiance To One

Daily Devotional for December 26th

No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Matthew 6:24

Regardless of what the world may think or say, man was designed to serve. God created man to serve.  When Adam and Eve fell to sin in the garden, they consciously surrendered themselves unto Satan.  From that time until now, man has been in bondage to a slave master and cannot be freed unless he does one thing; and that is, call out to God and resubmit his life unto God.

In the sermon on the mount, Jesus revealed the impossibility of serving two masters. We cannot serve God while at the same time serving Satan.  A clear evaluation of each master should make it an obvious choice, although some enjoy the pleasures of sin.  The great delusion is that we, just like Adam and Eve, trade or barter.  The world chooses to sin but doesn’t realize the consequences.  We desire to have some sort of sin, but do we realize that always give up something in order to have something?

Jesus revealed the purpose of the two masters in John 10:10 when He said The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  All Satan will ever do unto you is take from you.  He will take your joy, peace, family, and ultimately your soul.  All Jesus will ever do unto you is give to you!  He will give you joy, peace, and so much more.  Ultimately Jesus will give eternal life to as many as will call unto Him.

Unbelievers are missing out on so much that God desires to do in their lives. The very best that the devil could ever do unto you is not even worthy to be compared to the life Jesus can and will give.  Who is like unto the Lord?  No one!
