The Law of Faith

Daily Devotional for December 23rd

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness; that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.  Where is boasting then?  It is excluded.  By what law?  of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.  Romans 3:26-27

The law of faith?  What does that mean?  While some would argue that we are not living under law, we clearly see from this scripture that every believer in Christ in fact is living under law.  It is true that we are not abiding under the Old Covenant Law, but we are however, under a different law, i.e., the law of faith.  The truth is all; excluding none, are under some type of spiritual law whether they are lost or saved.  Romans 8:2.

God created this entire world based upon laws.  The law of gravity, the law of physics, the laws of nature, etc., these all reveal the nature of our God.  They speak to us that God is a God of law and order.  The things of God that come unto us are clearly given to us based upon order; God’s order.  God has ordained that faith is the established and ordained law He will meet with mankind.  Not just any faith though, but faith in God that He will answer prayer.

Although this scripture is in context with the idea that the law of faith is speaking of justification by faith, we cannot ignore the truth that all throughout scripture, God has required one thing of mankind in order to move on their behalf; and that one thing is faith.  The way God moves in your life is through faith.  God has ordained that He will meet you on these grounds and that He will not meet with you any other way.  Your responsibility is to place your faith in Christ.  Once you do this, wonderful things become clearly realized in your life.

When you choose to believe God, you enter into a law that works without fail.  This is the law of faith.  This means that God has bound Himself to move on your behalf when you believe He will.  The entire 11th chapter of Hebrews is a testimony of how God honored genuine faith down through many generations.  Faith is what He has desire from the beginning.  Will you choose to abide in the law of faith?  Maybe you’re entered faith and remained there for a brief time but you’ve allowed the devil to pull you out of faith through his tactics of unbelief.

This is why God’s great promises are not seen in our lives.  But if we will position ourselves in faith, then we have bound ourselves to a spiritual law that God has promised to honor.  If you are abiding in the law of faith today, stay there; your promise is coming.  It’s on the way!  But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Hebrews 11:6.
