In His Arms

Daily Devotional for November 6th

And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. Mark 9:36

There is something very wonderful about the idea that a child is in the arms of Jesus. So many times we view Jesus as being so high and lifted up that He cannot be touched.  We tend to view the Lord as so separated from the human race that we cannot reach Him.  We must realize that Jesus came to this world for the purpose of reconciling mankind back unto Himself.  Now that Jesus has died on the cross, rose again and ascended back to the Father, we now have access to God by faith.

The troubles the devil sends our way are meant to steal from you and destroy you. We feel so alienated from God most of the time when we face devastating health problems.  Family tragedies such as the untimely death of a son or daughter; a brother or sister drives us into a very strange spiritual place.  It is here where Satan can pull you into a horrible pit.  It is in these circumstances you must find a way to come to Jesus.

Jesus knows troubles in this life are much greater than your natural ability to endure. He never intended for you to walk through them alone.  This is why the invitation is continually extended unto all to Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy laden…I’ll give you rest. Matthew 11:28.  When you come to Jesus, there is much more than a place to cast your cares upon, there is a loving shoulder to lean on; fall upon, and cry upon.  There are also such loving arms that will wrap around you and let you know He is here; He is near.

Jesus knows exactly how to calm you and give you peace in the midst of your trouble. The Lord may not rebuke the winds that blow, but it doesn’t mean He will not calm you.  In His arms, there is no fear.  In His arms, there is no torment.  There is only comfort.  The only thing Jesus asks of us is that we come as a little child and trust Him.  Are you facing insurmountable problems in your life today?  Have you been caught in the midst of the sea unprepared for the storm your now in?  Call out to Jesus.  Come to Him in humility.  He will call you, comfort and console you in His arms.
