After God’s Own Heart
Daily Devotional for October 25th
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. Acts 13:22
In a generation where the overwhelming majority seek for wealth, influence and other gains, desiring the things of God has never been more important. The Lord truly has blessing in store for each of us, but if our hearts desire is for what God can give us, then we have totally missed the point of God’s redemption plan. Jesus suffered in every way humanly possible to give us the opportunity to enjoy relationship with God above all other things.
Joy and happiness is not based upon material things we possess, or even the blessings that God provides to us, but as David declared, “In thy presence is fullness of joy.” (Psalm 16:11) It’s one thing for a man or woman to speak well of you, but God speaking for you is totally different. The Lord Himself had testified that David was a man after His own heart and would fulfill all my will. It is not those who seek just for blessing, but those who are after the heart of God shall fulfill God’s purpose in their lives.
God is Love. If you are seeking to love the world without partiality, then you have taken upon you God’s heart. If you can look beyond someone’s faults and love them regardless, then you have tapped into the heart of God. God’s desire is to win the lost souls that are headed for destruction in Hell. If you are seeking to win souls, then you have taken upon you the heart of God.
Is your heart drawn to know God and His heart? Does your heart beat after the things of God? Do you hurt for the things God hurts for? Do you long, not just for blessing from the Lord, but to be in His presence? If so, then you are becoming a seeker of God’s heart. Knowing God; His character and all that He is, is truly the greatest blessing of All. Be a man or woman after God’s heart and your ultimate desire will be to fulfill all His will.
