To Know Him – Daily Devotion for October 22nd

To Know Him

Daily Devotional for October 22nd

That I may know Him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.  Philippians 3:10

There is a great difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing Him.  There is really no comparison between the two.  There aren’t enough bible classes or instructors who can give sufficient knowledge about our wonderful Redeemer that could compare to what one moment in His presence can provide.  The early disciples suffered much ridicule and persecution because of their affiliation with the Saviour, but they willingly endured it because of their knowledge of who Jesus was.

The unbelieving world may mock or even curse the name of Jesus, but it is simply because they do not know Him.  This relationship goes far beyond religion.  One who is truly born again enjoys the reality of relationship with God.  There is a wonderful communion in the spirit that cannot be described.  But to all who have been saved by His wonderful grace, there is a knowledge of Jesus that transcends words on paper.  There is a fellowship in the Holy Spirit that cannot be put into words.

When an individual experiences Jesus, they never forget it.  Jesus marks us for life!  His loving hand placed upon us is so sweet that all we long for from that moment on is just another opportunity to be in His presence!

Knowing Jesus will produce a sincere and committed love for Him.  Once a person comes humbly repenting of their sin and surrendering their life to Christ, the wonderful presence of the Holy Spirit comes and lifts the burden of sin, removes the shame of sin, and wraps His loving arms around them, welcoming them home as the prodigal’s father welcomed him back home.
