It’s Impossible For God
Daily Devotional for August 2nd
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Hebrews 6:17-18
Wait just a second! Are you telling me that there are some things that God cannot do? I have always had the idea that nothing was too big for God and that there was nothing that God cannot do! Surprisingly there are a few things that God cannot do, but the reasons are much different than we may think. It is true that God is all powerful; meaning, there is not anything, nor will there ever be anything that is stronger than Him. Satan will never present a situation that God cannot handle!
Did you know that it is impossible for God to lie? It’s not that God is capable of lying but is unwilling to do so; it is literally an impossibility for Him. When God says something, it is as good as done! There are two immutable things that give us strong consolation today. The first is God’s word. God’s word is good! Everything that God has said to you will come to pass if you will put your faith in Him! As if this wasn’t enough, the second immutable thing was that God confirmed His word with an oath; meaning, He swore to uphold what He said He would do! In other words, He reinforced His word with an oath to uphold it!
We suffer so many fears and troublesome events in our lives and often question if God will be there for us. Do you realize that He said He would never leave you nor forsake you? It is literally impossible for God not to carry you through your hard times because He promised. He is not like man that He should lie to you friend! Numbers 23:19. He is faithful! We err, though, when we fail to take God at His word. We struggle and wrestle God’s promises more than anything else. How great things God would do in our lives if we could just take God at His promise!
He will not fail you! God promised Abraham that He would make of him a great nation. He would bless his children. All nations of the earth would be blessed. God has commanded the blessing. He has also made many promises to you! Are you wrestling today with fear or worry on how or if you will survive your current situation? Jesus promised He would go with you all the way, even unto the end of the world. You have been given two immutable things that bring great comfort and consolation. It is God’s promise to you! Receive it today! Lean on God! Trust Him to carry you through your difficult time! You will find that God will be there for you in your darkest hour! God will build such an assurance that you will look on your future trials with confidence and say it’s impossible for God to not be with me!
