Advancing in the Kingdom

Daily Devotional for July 17th

And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 2 Timothy 2:5-7

As a child of God, we have not entered a democracy, but a kingdom. We are a part of the most powerful kingdom on the face of the earth.  God’s kingdom has one agenda; to rescue those who are held captive by Satan’s regime and bring them into the glorious liberty of the kingdom of God.  It’s truly the most wonderful mission with the greatest rewards.  God so desires for you to take part in this great rescue mission for souls.

Are you hindered in your spiritual growth today? Do you struggle with the mindset that you’ll never be used of God in a great way?  Are you of the many people who settle for small things because you wrestle to believe the Lord wants to use you mightily to advance His plans in the earth?  You entered God’s kingdom when you were born again, but His desire is that you grow in grace for the purpose of being used greatly by Him in this world.  The enemy so tries to keep your mind so polluted with his lies so that you never realize the victory you have in Jesus nor the enduement of power God will give you when you enter into His calling.

Contrary to what many think, God desires to advance you in His kingdom. In this scripture, Paul reveals to a young preacher that He had the ability to be crowned in certain areas in battle if he would strive for the mastery.  This is the same concept our military uses to advance men and women.  Not only does the Lord desire foot soldiers, but the Lord desires sergeants, colonials, and generals in the earth.  If you so desire to be used of God in certain areas in winning souls to Christ, then God will promote you to do just that.

While many Christians today are limiting what God can do in their lives, some are striving for greater things! Don’t allow the enemy to convince you that you will never be used greatly of God.  In God’s kingdom, there are no small assignments.  The Lord is pulling you to greater heights in His kingdom.  Although striving will come, if you will contend to be faithful to God and commit yourself to be a soldier, it won’t be long before God will promote you to greater things.  Just be faithful to Him that has called you to be a soldier!
