An Army of One

Daily Devotional for March 6th

Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.  The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes…Deuteronomy 1:29-30

When we give our lives unto the Lord, there is such a change because we have invited Jesus into our lives.  He truly makes all things new.  The many vices and strongholds that held us in bondage were broken in an instant at salvation.

However, there is a tragedy that can take place in our lives if we are not careful.  The enemy seems to magnify his frustration at us simply because we have been freed from his bondage.  As Pharaoh could not come to terms with Israel leaving Egypt, he pursued after them in hopes of stealing the victory that was theirs simply because of their trust in God.

As a believer, have you felt the heat of the battle in a situation and you wondered if you would go down in defeat? The Lord promised His people that He would fight for them against their enemies just as He did for them in Egypt. God would continue to be with His people and continue to give them victory long after their deliverance from Egypt.  Likewise, our trust in God in time of trouble opens the door for Him to fight for us.

One of our greatest struggles is trusting God.  We seem to feel as though the Lord is not enough and that we must trust in God plus something else.  Sometimes we feel the need to throw out spiritual safety nets just in case God does not come through for us.  We also feel at times as though we need to help God with the battle or give Him advice on how to fix our problems.  Friend, God is enough all by Himself.  He needs no help taking care of you!

God only asks that we trust Him in time of need.  No matter how extreme your battle may be, it is nothing for a limitless God who sits on High!  When you stand before the enemy with God, you may feel as though your outnumbered, but when God is on your side then you are always in the majority.
