Wounded Warrior

Daily Devotional for March 2nd

But do thou for me, O God the Lord, for thy name’s sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.  I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.  Psalm 109:21-23

When we surrender our lives to the Lord, we never imagine circumstances as a Christian that will cause harm to us. Your life has been made new.  You have begun to walk in newness of life.  You are truly a new creature in Christ.  Why is it then that some people are harmed and ultimately choose to walk away from serving God?  While Jesus will never hurt or harm you, some people will.

We enter our Christian lives with our heart wide open. You’ve chosen to open it up to the Lord, but you must protect it from foreign things.  The people you love the most can wound you in anger or when they are wounded themselves.  Married couples say things to each other in heated arguments and will have long lasting wounds.  Families refuse to speak to each other because of harmful words spoken in anger.  Although the hurtful words are for a moment, their effects are very long lasting.

Just like a wounded soldier cannot fight in a battle, if you are spiritually wounded, you cannot be affective in battle. As a matter of fact, these wounds can affect you to a point where you cease fighting altogether.  David revealed that his heart had been wounded within him.  It is up to you to protect yourself from very harmful words.  Although they come from people, these arrows are shot from Satan’s bow.

Solomon went on to say that the spirit of man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? Even though we must protect ourselves from arm, what do you do if you’ve already been wounded?  Are you a wounded warrior?  Are you finding it hard to enter back into the battle as a soldier for God because someone has thrust you through with harmful words?  God will remove Satan’s broken arrows if you will come to Him today.  Only Jesus can heal a wounded spirit.  Bring your broken and wounded heart to Jesus.  There’s healing in His hands.
