He Has Done Great Things
Daily Devotional for Friday December 9th 2016
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. Luke 1:46-49
We have truly been created by a very honorable and loving God. We have been fearfully and wonderfully made. He is well deserving of all the praise we could offer from our whole heart. Everything that God has ever created is great. When God created in the beginning, He saw that it was good. Even after creation was finished though, the Lord has not finished. Since the fall, God has been in the business of reviving, redeeming and restoring those things Satan has touched.
Mary was so overwhelmed by the work that God chose to do in her life that all she could do was magnify the Lord. When God touches you, His touch sends your soul and spirit into a place of wonder! Our mind might not be able to contain it or put it into words, but our soul and spirit knows what He has done! Mary knew that her life was so forever changed by the Lord that every generation would testify of this work in her life.
When the Lord performs a work in your life, you never forget it. You become marked for life! Anyone who comes to God by faith will experience great things. Most importantly, they begin to understand who God is. God is not some tyrant sitting in the clouds waiting to destroy humanity like many people accredit to Him. When you come into His presence, you experience a loving God of mercy and grace; one who desires to bring you out of bondage and darkness and into liberty and light.
From the moment we experience God in His beauty, praise and worship is the only response that seems to make sense! There’s nothing we could ever repay Him with. Mary’s heart was so humbled that the very God of Heaven would look upon her low estate but yet see fit to send His gift to the entire world through her. This humbleness is the kind of heart that God will perform great things through. Has God performed wonders in your life? If He has, your soul will magnify Him as well. If He hasn’t, He wants to. Will you allow God to do in you great things?
