Heal Our Land

Heal Our Land

Daily Devotional for Tuesday November 8th 2016

If my people, which are called by name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven and will for give their sin, and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14

When sin came into the world in the garden of Eden, a curse came with it.  The serpent was cursed above every other beast in the sense that it was left to maneuver upon its belly.  For man, his was to earn his living by the sweat of his brow.  The woman would endure the labour in child bearing.  But there was one more place where the curse was included, and that was, upon the land.

There are times when the land cries out due to the horrible wickedness that is being committed upon it.  The land literally testifies against its inhabitants.  How, you may ask?  Consider this.  When the Lord told Solomon that He would withhold the rain, or send locusts, or pestilence upon the land, the land itself became a testimony against he people.  Down throughout generations, lands have become sick with droughts, plants and other life devoured by pestilence.  Some lands have even become perpetual deserts and completely uninhabitable.  All of this a sign that the land is sick due to the wickedness of its inhabitants.  Many people may think that their sin only effects them, but this is completely false.  Like a cancer, sin effects everyone in your home and everyone else you are around.

But God has promised to heal our land.  It’s comforting to know that God does not leave us without remedy unless we totally turn against Him.  Jesus is our life.  He has created all things and in Him do all things consist.  If we will repent, He promised to send healing to the lands.  Returning to God will bring forth rains that is so much needed to water our plant life in order to bring forth the fruit for our survival.  Our sustenance may very well be food that is needed for the body, but without God, there is no rain brought forth to bring that fruit into realization.  In the end, it is God what we need.  Jesus said it this way; Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.  (Matthew 4:4)
