Always a Victory!
Daily devotional for Thursday October 20th 2016
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14
This life is full of ups and downs. The righteous man Job said it was of few days and full of trouble. No one, not even a Christian, is exempt from troubles. With Satan as our adversary, there’s one thing for certain, every child of God will face battles along this journey. When we first give our lives to Christ, we may not understand the fullness of the love that He has for us to give us victory over the circumstances we face in life. All we know is the struggle; the fight, the hardships. The temper will try to convince you that God is not interested in giving you victory over everything you face in life.
Apostle Paul may not have realized the enormity of the love of Christ in the beginning of his walk with the Lord, but he soon found out! He always causes us to triumph! Could there be a bolder statement than that? Could there be a more wonderful revelation to us? As Paul labored to preach the gospel, he encountered many struggles and through those he always found Christ to be faithful to deliver. Do you understand, child of God, that God is not only able to deliver out of your situation, but He is willing to deliver? You may wonder, is Paul saying that God will always give me victory over whatever I’m going through? When it comes to opposition from the enemy, the answer is Yes! Always! A thousand times yes!
People today, even some good Christian people, are convinced that total victory is not God’s will. Throughout the bible, we read that when people placed their faith in God, they were delivered. When people came to Jesus in faith, they were never disappointed. Do you realize that Jesus came into this world for that very purpose; to bring you victory? Why then do I struggle in defeat over things in my life? Why then does it seem as though I’m still under the power or dominion of Satan in situations? What do you have your faith in, friend? If our faith is not placed in Jesus Christ, then we will remain in defeat. John said, “and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4) This goes beyond your belief in God. This is placing your faith, your trust in Jesus to deliver from the circumstance you are faced with.
Paul faced tremendous opposition in his preaching, but revealed the faithfulness of Christ to deliver him when he declared, “Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work,” (2 Timothy 4:17-18) Do you believe that today? Every evil work? Every satanic scheme? Every bondage? Jesus Christ has so much love for us that there’s always a victory waiting if you will simply trust Him today.
