Jesus Christ The Foundation

Daily Devotional for Monday October 17th 2016

According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  1 Corinthians 3:10-11.

Job said he that is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.  Because of the fall of Adam in the garden of Eden, man has been reduced to live this life with pain and heartache.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Christian or not, this life is filled with struggles.  Every life will encounter times of great tragedy.

But just because life is this way, it does not mean that we cannot overcome these troubles.  Instead of following the worlds pattern of dealing with problems by resorting to drugs, alcohol and the like, the child of God has come to the reality that Jesus Christ makes all the difference.  When our life is founded upon Jesus Christ, the troubles in life will still come, but our faith in Christ will bring forth a peace in the midst of the storm, and a sustaining victory.

The unbelieving world’s remedy for dealing with problems is really not a remedy as it will only numb our senses while the trouble still abides.  Being a Christian does not exclude us from problems, but having Jesus as our foundation will make all the difference whether we survive the storms or go under in defeat.

It is possible to be a child of God but to not trust in Jesus Christ to carry you through the hard times you face.  Can we truly say that Jesus Christ is our foundation?  Is our life built upon Jesus, or is it built upon religion or even church affiliation?  The outcome of your storm will declare what your foundation is built upon.
