Every Knee will bow

Every knee will bow

Daily devotional for Weekend September 10th & 11th 2016

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the father. Philippians 2:9-11

The first coming of Jesus Christ to this earth has been a mystery to many people throughout the ages. Israel still struggles over the Jewish carpenter’s son because they see nothing beyond the death of Christ at Calvary. But the truth is Jesus atoned for every sin, won every battle that we will face, and defeated the wisest scheme that Satan could conjure, at the Cross! For everyone who has given their lives to Jesus Christ, we know full well the victory He won for us because we have experienced that victory personally. The darkness is past and the true light is now shining. The chains of bondage that held us captive were broken when we called upon the name of the Lord Jesus. We have been delivered from the power of darkness, and Jesus has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. (Colossians 1:13)

Jesus, although the world physical world cannot see it, came as a king to liberate the world from Satan’s tyranny. When John the Baptist preached “the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand,” he was proclaiming, like a royal herald of arms that is sent from the king in a kingdom, “It is time! You’ve been under the rule of Satan’s kingdom long enough. It’s time for freedom if you want to be free!” From that time to now, “The Kingdom of Heaven is still at hand!” The lost world can still today be rescued from the oppression and tyranny of the kingdom of darkness! When Jesus walked the earth in his earthly form, demons trembled. Jesus walked among men and men couldn’t recognize Him as the Son of God, but make no mistake, all of Hell knew who He was! The demon possessed couldn’t tell any difference, but the demon inside the person cried, “…What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come to torment us before the time?”

We see that trouble that continues to brew in the middle east with terrorists and the widespread influence of the religion of the Antichrist. This is Satan’s last attempt to take all to Hell that he can. But we must not be afraid! We must not be discouraged! Our King is coming! He is soon to return for a glorious church without spot, wrinkle or any such. The world today may continue to mock, ridicule and persecute us because we know Jesus is the True King. But He is much more than that. He is coming as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Soon every nation under Heaven will call Him Lord! All kings of the earth will bow a knee in subjection to Christ. Every nation will, one day soon, recognize Jesus as the name above all names! But most importantly, Satan himself will of a surety, bend his knees and bow his head in subjection to the name of Jesus Christ and his lying tongue will be forced to proclaim his utter defeat and at last speak one sentence of truth when he must confess, “Jesus, you are Lord!”
