Daily devotional for Thursday August 25th 2016

…For He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews 13:6

In a troublesome world with the events that continually transpire in it, Satan tries to keep the entire world in a constant state of fear. Fear of corrupt government, fears of murder, fears of persecution; it seems as though there’s no comfort anywhere. Fear does not come from God. (Timothy 1:7) But the Lord has constantly comforted us with the words “Fear Not.” The Angel of the Lord appeared unto Joseph concerning the birth of Jesus said “Fear Not.” When Jesus was on the ship with the disciples in the midst of the storm, He said to them “Why are ye fearful?” (Matthew 8:26)

Apostle Paul knew full well the reality of living for God in a perverse generation and the troubles that could result. When preaching the gospel in Macedonia, he explained to the Corinthian church the things he encountered there. “Without were fighting’s, within were fears.” (2 Corinthians 7:5) But we have a God who loves us unconditionally. He knows the world you live in. He sees the schemes that the Devil plans against you. Paul goes on to say, “Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down…” The Holy Spirit is called “The Comforter” is because He comforts. The Lord knew there would be times in your life when you would be faced with circumstances that would make you uncomfortable. But Jesus said, “I will leave you comfortless, I will come to you.” (John 14:18) Praise God forever!

Why do we fear at times? Most of the time, it is because we do not know for sure whether God will deliver us in our hour of need. Situations arise in our lives that we simply do not believe that God will take care of us. Why do we believe that though? Has the Lord ever given you any reason to not trust Him? We do not have to fear anything but God, friend. When we realize that God is on our side, this will change every circumstance you’re in from this point forward. He is not against you! He is for you!

Do you realize that perfect love casts out fear? ( 1 John 4:17-18) What exactly does that mean? We hear that God loves us but do we really understand the depth, the height, the breadth and the width of the love of God? Do you realize that His love is so abundant toward you that He will be with you in everything and through everything that you encounter in life? “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me.” (Psalm 23:4) Child of God, Jesus is with you. You never have any reason to fear! Our fear is due to not knowing the love of God. Once we realize that there’s nothing in this world that God is not going to be with us through, we will no more view your circumstances the same. Glory to God in the Highest!
