God is gone forth before you

Daily devotional for Tuesday August 23rd 2016

And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines. 1 Chronicles 14:15

The Christian life is truly exciting. We start out our life by trusting Jesus to save our soul. That faith in Jesus brings forth the grace of God into our lives and He forgives, cleanses, redeems and makes us His sons and daughters. Our communion and fellowship with God in the Spirit is so wonderful that it establishes God’s faithfulness that He will be with us in everything we will afterward go through in this life.

When the Lord increases in our lives, the enemy will stop at nothing to keep you from maintaining that spiritual momentum. Many times in this Christian life we will encounter spiritual attacks that seek to tear down our faith in God. The devil wars against us steadily attempting to remove us from God our strength so that we seek to fight him with our own methods.

The Philistines represented a characteristic of our adversary in that they seemed to be tenacious in opposing the people of God. David had fought and won against the Philistines many times. The Lord told David that when he heard the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees that he would know by that that God had gone before him. The secret to David’s victory was his reliance upon the leadership of the Lord. He absolutely refused to face a battle without asking the Lord. How many times do we find ourselves jumping ahead of the Lord attempting to fight a certain way when God’s way to victory may be a different direction?

When God goes before you, He will prepare the way to victory. The Lord has the plan to victory; we need only to trust in His direction. Are you facing a circumstance where you do not know how to proceed? Enquire of the Lord. The Lord will give you specific direction on how to fight the battle. When we enquire of the Lord, we are submitting our will to His. Once we do this, the Lord will go before you, fight the battle, and give you the victory. He will go before you!
