“Theater of War”

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.

In warfare, a theater is an area in which important military events occur or are in progress.  A theater can include the entirety of the airspace, land, and sea area that is – or that may potentially become – involved in war operations.  One of the reasons why the war in Vietnam was so challenging was because it was fought in conditions and terrain the South Vietnamese were used to, but not for the U.S. Marines.

As a soldier in God’s Military Forces, our theater of war is unique.  We battle in the theater of the spirit.  Our enemies are unseen.  The demons of Hell are equipped with weaponry that can devastate and dominate us, but only if we engage them on those grounds.  Satan wants to engage you on the terrain he can be most effective; carnally; i.e. in the flesh.  Unlike any other warfare strategy, God has commanded us to engage the enemy in this warfare where we are most effective, and that is, in the Spirit!

Marines camouflage is designed to blend into the terrain of that specific theater.  Woodland Marpat for greenish fruitful terrains, Desert Marpat for dry desert terrain.  To God’s soldiers, we must put on the uniform of light that blinds our enemies.  If we’re walking in the light as He (God) is in the light, (1 John 1:7) then the enemy cannot distinguish God’s Military men from God Himself.  We become hid in the camouflage of the Holy Spirit. (Colossians 3:3)

The theater that this Global War on Hell is located in is the spirit.  Hell’s tactics are to engage God’s soldiers in the flesh.  Satan wants to lure you out of your territory and into another.  Why?  Because they are effective and even triumphant in this theater.  Attacks like pornography, drunkenness, drugs, lying are all the devil’s ways of enemy fire in the flesh.  As a soldier for God, your objective is to engage Satan on the battlefield of the spirit where the weapons are powerful.  It would be foolish for a Marine Battalion to engage an opposing force in a different battleground that the territory they are occupying.  In order for you to be a conqueror in this war, you must remain in the Spiritual Theater.  Taking the Word of God and prayer are weapons that totally annihilate the powers of darkness.  Most importantly, using the name of Jesus is to drop a Nuclear Bomb that will shake the demons of Hell to their core.

This verse says our weapons are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds, which are military forts or fortresses Satan has set up.  Hell does not belong in our territories; our homes, our communities, our nation, or our individual lives.  He has forced himself into our lives and we have not resisted.  Destroy his forts!  Scatter his foot soldiers.  Let the blood of demons flood the place.  Remove his presence in your personal territory.  Drive him completely and totally from the map!  Let your hometown be a place where God governs.  There shall be no place my boots tread where the enemies flag flies!  Are you taking on heavy fire from the demons of Hell right now?  If so, then the devil has lured you onto the grounds where he has the high ground.  Get back to the spirit.  The devil does not have the ability to control what theater this spiritual warfare is located.  You control where you fight but you constantly have to make the conscious decision to remain in the spirit.  Don’t let Satan lure you into the flesh where he has the advantage and where your weapons are not useful.  Stay in the Theater of the Spirit.
