A Call to Arms

Currently, the United States military is made up of about 1.3 million active-duty personnel, which equates to less than one-half of 1% of the entirety of the American population.  This is a catastrophic statistic.  While we are thankful for all Americans who live in this country and contribute to the endurance of civilian American culture, most including myself, have not served our great country and stood alongside other great American patriots in defending our freedoms.  We owe our veterans and active-duty service men and women a debt of gratitude that we could never repay.

The devastating statistics do not end there.  Over the last 15 years, the number of people enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces has declined significantly.  We can have a healthy conversation over what the root cause of this decline is, but whatever the reason is for these statistics, they speak to us that there is a growing attitude in our society that defending our country or joining the military to fight our country’s battles is not as important to our population as it should be or once was.

The same is true in the Body of Christ currently.  Many followers of Jesus today are citizens, but not soldiers.  In the last few years we are also witnessing a decline in the number of Christian soldiers deliberately engaging in spiritual warfare or even expressing a desire to advance in their Christian maturity to consider themselves a candidate for enlistment in God’s Army.  If we honestly knew the few men and women of God who were active in God’s wars, that number would also be staggering.

Romans 13:11-12 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

In other words, stop being distracted by the vanity of the world when there is a war taking place.  This verse clearly describes that the reality of war cannot be recognized by the casual observer.  One has to be awakened to it.  Notice the phrase “it is high time to awake out of sleep” along with “Let us put on the armour of light.”  These two phrases shouts a single message “Wake Up and Put Your Armor On”  “The Enemy is Upon us.  We Are At War!

When I think of where I am at this very point in my heart regarding my passion, gratitude, and deep appreciation for my country and those who have served, I have nothing but total disgust at myself and the greatest of regrets for not joining the military and serving my country.  I feel the regret daily and it is completely insatiable.  My only consolation is that I can instill that passion, gratitude and deep sense of obligation to the next generation of Americans.

While I am daily in complete dissatisfaction over my lack of service to my country, that dissatisfaction has helped to fuel my call of service to my God and calling to my country in Heaven.  The Kingdom of Heaven is also made up of citizens and soldiers.  Even though I cannot go back to my youth and enlist in the United States military, I have vowed to serve my God, His kingdom and the spiritual country to which I am a citizen of for the remainder of my days upon the earth.  Not only that vocation, but to be a recruiter to compel other Christians why they are not serving in God’s military.

I am completely determined to do my part in helping to educate the body of Christ on all things the Lord has taught me concerning spiritual warfare so that the next generation of God’s people can grow up “Into Him” in all things.  Ephesians 4:15.  My prayer is that this publication will serve as a textbook, reference manual, or lesson volume in order to help us in the curriculum of Spiritual Military Science.  This military education is vital to our victory and continual existence and influence in this world.  The lost people of this world and the moral decline, and the ever increasing grip of spiritual bondage in our world can and will be reversed as the Church of the Living God comes into the realization of who we serve, the equipment He has outfitted us with, and the education necessary to achieve these spiritual military objectives.  When you know God is on your side and what great victory He has given you, then the remaining variables of the battle are inconsequential.

We’ve adopted a very timid and humble attitude how we deal with all things in the Christian life.  This humility is scriptural as it relates to dealing with people, but that humility has somehow bled over into our view of dealing with our adversary the devil.  The church must return to a spiritual military approach to Christianity.  By no means am I referring to a military approach in the carnal sense, but in the spiritual.  There must come a point where the church rises up in total and complete defiance to the kingdom of darkness and allow God to outfit us with the Whole Armour of God.  There must return a boldness to the body of Christ that refuses to allow the most ferocious battle cry’s of the gates of Hell to intimidate us.  God is on our side!  Though He command us to march into the valley of death, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL, for thou art with me!

We are at war
