On April 6th, 1917, the Unites States declared war on Germany, officially entering World War 1.  President Woodrow Wilson requested the declaration from Congress due to Germany’s unrestricted submarine warfare and the Zimmerman Telegram, which proposed a Germain-Mexican alliance against the US.  The Senate approved the declaration on April 4th, and the House concurred two days later, officially ending the US policy of non-intervention.  A declaration of War is a formal act by which one state announces existing or impending war activity against another.  The declaration is a performative speech act (or the public signing of a document) by an authorized party of a national government, in order to create a state of war between two or more states.

Declaring war can be considered righteous or evil.  President Wilson’s call for Congress to declare war came as a result of Germany’s submarine warfare and the interception of the Zimmermann Telegram which outlined Germany’s plans with Mexico against the United States.  Likewise, God did not declare war on Satan for naught.  The devil had committed terrible acts of violence against God’s creation.  The entire Old Testament depicts a continual conflict that has existed between God and the devil since the beginning of creation.  Many battles have been won, while many battles have been lost.  The kingdom of God has suffered much loss.  Much of humanity has not only been physically ravaged by Satan and suffered horrifically while here on the earth but have found themselves only to burn alive in the eternal torment of Hellfire.  But since Jesus came to this earth, gave His life on the Cross, raised from the dead, and inaugurated the New Covenant, He removed sin, the source of bondage that gave the devil the upper hand in all of our lives.  Now, spiritual liberty and freedom can finally come to the earth.

Matthew 10:34, Jesus said Think not that I am come to send peace on earth, I came not to send peace, but a sword.

When Jesus said I came not to send peace, but a sword, he was no less than making a declaration of war. Declaring war comes from the top authority.  No single individual can.  A declaration of war immediately calls for a mobilization of troops.  It calls for immediate response.  It calls for immediate action.  Make no mistake, GOD HAS DECLARED WAR!  If we understand this simple truth, then we should not be shocked to realize that God is recruiting and calling Soldiers into this fight!  As the Lord’s military men and women, we do not confederate with the devil.  We do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11)  Not only is there a hatred for all things of darkness, but there is also an insatiable disgust for the devil in the body of Christ.  This is because God placed that disgust in us in Genesis 3:1 And I will put enmity (enmity comes from the Hebrew word H342 -pronounced ‘eybah which means hostility, hatred) between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Satan has launched an all-out attack on humanity.  He is not just making lives inconvenient, he is dragging humanity into hell kicking and screaming.  The horror cannot be illustrated graphically enough to get the full picture.  The destruction is massive.  The effects are eternal!  This is why the counteroffensive is so imperative.  You entering into this warfare is much more than about helping others, it’s about rescuing lost souls from an eternal destruction in Hell.  The failure to act is unacceptable.  The calculus of defeat cannot be quantified.  The stakes are ultimate!  Souls are eternally perishing.

How was Jesus coming to send a sword to the earth?  As we see the events that followed, Jesus waged war on the entire kingdom of darkness singlehandedly.  Not long afterward, gave power and authority unto twelve men who went about waging the same war.  After the twelve, He “appointed other seventy also.”  Then He “gave up the Ghost” at the cross and that same spirit entered the church at Pentecost. Now we, the entire body of Christ have assumed the same war.  Let us, therefore, stand shoulder to shoulder, soldier to soldier, and win as many souls and rescue as many perishing into the kingdom of God as possible.

This Declaration of War sets many Heavenly things into motion.  Spiritual military installations are established, Spiritual Military Campaigns are planned and executed, along with short-term Strategic Military Operations.  This Declaration mobilizes God’s capabilities, assets, infantry, armory, weaponry to be distributed throughout the body of Christ.  God’s generals are given battle objectives, battle plans, strategies and tactics in order to not only perform spiritual rescue missions, but to advance the territory for the Kingdom of Heaven.  You don’t have to worry if you will receive the correct training for your spiritual MOS.  God has created you for this moment.  He has ordained your life to make a difference in this ultimate spiritual conflict.  You may not recognize it, but He is already developing all of you.

God has declared war and has set the sequence of operations into motion.  There’s no turning back.  God will not change His mind!  The fury in the heart of God will ignite that same fury in the heart of God’s soldiers.  God has declared war on evil.  There is no place for the devil.  He has no place to run.  He has no place to hide.  His schemes and tactics will come to naught.  His advancement in this world will be resisted.  His hordes and legions cannot stand against the forces of God’s Military Operations and Assets.  This war declaration has been active since Jesus declared it in Matthew 10:34.  It will not expire until Jesus steps foot on the mount of Olives at the Battle of Armageddon.
