Times Of Refreshing

Daily Devotional for May 7th

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:  Acts 3:19-20

Of a certainty, Jesus loves His people.  Those who have chosen to love the Lord and follow Him in purity and commitment are the most blessed people in the world.  As purposefully well as we all may try, words cannot express the love Jesus has for us.  The love of Jesus can only be experienced in order to be described.

Even though this is true, there will be times in your walk with the Lord where weariness will set in.  You will experience times of what seems like dry desert.  You will become spiritually parched and thirsty to a point where your strength appears gone.  This is due to a few things.  It’s not your works, but your obedience to walking in the ways of God which keeps you in fellowship with the Saviour.  As long as there is unbroken fellowship with Jesus, then there will be refreshing.

The word “refreshing” is defined as a recovery of breath, i.e. revival.  Simply put, when a person has fallen unconscious to smoke or water inhalation, there must be air breathed into them to resuscitate them.  Our lungs are designed to breathe clean air, not smoke or fluids.  Spiritually, this means that a person is attempting to live in an environment God never intended.  So is the case with sin.  You cannot survive in a life of sin.  It always causes death.

The apostle Peter declared to the people that sin would cause spiritual desolation to result in your lives.  The remedy for this dryness is to repent of all sin, then the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.  God is interested in us becoming strong in the power of His might.  We have no strength apart from Jesus.  However when we turn from our sin and ask God to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, then refreshing will come.  Are you experiencing a weakness in your walk with the Lord?  Is fellowship with Jesus not the same as it once was?  Repent of anything/everything in your life.  Once you do this, refreshing shall come from Jesus.  He will breathe into you His breath of life and revival.
