Our Golden Calf?

Daily Devotional for July 16th

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. Exodus 32:1

Silence is a tormentor. Delay is devastating. When we feel no wind, no breeze from Heaven, it makes us so uncomfortable. We are so content with our lives when the Holy Spirit is speaking to us and moving through us. But in times of delay, how often do we tend to squirm? How often do we seek to take matters into our own hands? How often does our faith erode to a point where we feel it necessary to take care of our circumstances ourselves?

The Israelites did not know what to do with themselves when Moses with to the mount to commune with the Lord. Do you realize friend that sometimes you have to wait patiently for the Lord? Instead of waiting patiently for God, they built themselves a god to trust in. They learned this from Egypt; from the world. Child of God, we so often tend to revert back to the world’s way of thinking. The world does not trust Jesus, but we do. How does it break the heart of God when we give up our faith in Him and continue our lives they we did before?

When the Lord seems to delay, the worst thing we could ever do is to rise up and go on without Him. You may say, I’m not going on without God! Consider this for a moment. When you’re looking to God to guide you and there is no clear direction from Him, are you tempted to look to something else to guide? When God seems to delay, do you trust in something else? If we’re not careful, we can build our own Golden Calf. We tend to lean on something other than God to trust in or to see is through, then we are forfeiting God’s help.

Have you been in a place of great trial and it seems that God has delayed? Have you been trusting the Lord for a time but have seen no answer yet? Friend don’t forsake trusting Jesus! Don’t allow the devil to pull you from the hope you have in God. God will come on the scene if you will refuse to go beyond Him. If satan can get you to build something else to trust in or look to, then your help from God will not come. It is then that satan can declare victory over you.

Hope for the Hopeless

As we have said many times, there is such a reality of knowing Jesus!  Our concern is that there are many people who may attend church, but do not know the reality of relationship with Jesus!  Jesus has promised living water unto those who are thirsty!  This living water satisfies!  An experience with Christ will not leave you feeling like you’re still unsatisfied.  He will satisfy every longing within you.
