My Soul Knows Very Well
Daily Devotional for December 13th
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Psalm 139:14
We mainly operate on two principles in this world; what we can see and what we can understand. Among others, these truths have been faithful instruments that have guided us into making correct decisions in life. While the mind and the eyes can be trusted at times to guide us, there is a point in which they fail us.
In this Psalm, David revealed that there is a knowledge of God that is so high that it cannot be attained. (Psalm 139:6) This means our minds cannot comprehend it. Our eyes wouldn’t be able to understand it if we saw it. There is a part of man, though that knows and understands things that are too much for vision and intellect. It is the soul of man.
You were created with a part of you that understands far beyond the flesh. The soul knows things that the mind cannot put into words. The truth is, God communicates to us through our hearts; the inner being of man. When God dealt with you to be saved, you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was God, although the mind couldn’t perceive it.
David declared to the Lord marvellous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well. There is one thing for certain, when God does a work in your life, your soul will know very well! When God speaks to our hearts, only the soul understands it. If there is sin in our lives, God sends conviction to bring us to a place of repentance. If the Lord desires to direct you to someone to witness to them, the soul comprehends it. When God chooses to pour out blessing upon you, our souls burn within us a joy unspeakable and full of glory!
How long has it been since your soul has felt the leading of the Lord, the touch of His embrace, the wonderful love that only the soul knows even though the mind could not perceive it? If sin is present in your heart, then conviction may be the only message God is speaking to your heart right now. Once you confess that sin or iniquity and repent of that sin, then you soul will start to know other things that only the soul can know.
