The Truth Shall Make You Free
Daily Devotional for October 6th
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32
The word of God is viewed today as nothing more than a suggestion or opinion for the most part. Some mock it while multitudes of others belittle its contents. Of a truth, the Word of God has the answers for the nations and the truth to guide our paths.
But to the children of God, there is such a realness; a weight of glory that abides within us because we have accepted Jesus’ sacrifice at the Cross for our sins and have entered into such a victory over all things that had us bound. After salvation is experienced, there is no more struggle to remain in the truth and it is simply because of the awesome change that God has made in our life.
Whether or not it is received, still the word of God is true! Jesus said that we would know the truth and the truth would liberate us; i.e., make us free. God’s word contains man’s way to freedom and victory over sin; and that it through Jesus’ sacrifice at Calvary. Its truths have been tried and proven to be true to those who have walked in its truths.
The world that has not heard the gospel message of Jesus Christ does not know the freedom that is found in the blood Jesus shed on the cross for our sins. The truth is, once you know the truth about your condition and the way to victory, then the choice is left up to you to come to the Lord and ask to be freed from Satan’s bondage. Jesus will do much more than set you free, He will make you free.
Does sin have a stronghold on you? Is there fear about something in you life that paralyzes you? Are there addictions of drugs, alcohol, sexual lusts, and other things that have you enslaved? Jesus has come to set the captive free. You do not have to remain in that condition. Jesus promised He would set you free, make you free. If you will reach out to Jesus by faith, He will deliver. You know the truth, that truth is to come unto Him and trust Him with whatever bondage it is to be broken, and He will make you free.
