When Satan Defies You

Daily Devotional for July 29th

Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 1 Samuel 17:36

In our walk as Christians, we tend to wrestle God’s willingness to deliver or give victory through most everything we face. When we size up our problem, we search the scriptures of God’s promises to see if there is a sure word for victory. The problem with that is, most of the time, the enemy can make your problem unique so that you are unable to compare it to any clear promise in God’s word.

There are many books in your bible. One of the great blessings of having such a wonderful volume of scripture is so that we can read and see the Lord’s faithfulness to His people. There’s enough scripture given to us to eventually come to the conclusion that God will deliver His people. Because of that, must we continue on debating with the devil whether God will deliver us when the enemy stands against us? The scriptures are full of those who received things from God, not because God promised it to them, but because they called out to God in their time of need and God delivered.

David spake an amazing truth here that I personally have overlooked for so long. Notice closely his words and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. Do you realize what this means? David understood, as we all should, that you don’t come against God and expect to come out victorious! No enemy will come against the armies of the Living God and win! Friend you must realize what side you are on. If you are a part of the kingdom of God, then the devil comes against the entire kingdom when he comes against you. Mark these words; when as long as the devil is working against you, God will be working for you! Bar nothing! That’s how much He loves you!

Today you must understand that there is no problem, no battle, no enemy, no circumstance that God will not intervene on your behalf. When Satan defies, he has postured himself, not only against you, but against God Himself. When he defies, he is forever destined to lose. His hope, however, is that you fail to lean on God during this time. If Satan can rob you of your faith in these times, then he can cut you off from God’s power. It is at these times that we reinforce our faith in God to deliver. The only battles that cannot be won in your life are the one’s you fail to trust God in. It’s not that God fails, it’s that we fail to trust Him. Victory is ours! Faith in God will overcome the world! God will come into your battle today and like David you’ll eventually understand that this enemy will fall simply because he has defied the people of the living God. This is the only understanding you will ever need!
