Now Where is Your God?
Daily Devotional for July 24th
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? Psalm 42:9-10
In these very dark and deceitful times, there is no shortage of demonic attacks on the body of Christ. There is also no shortage of God’s faithfulness. The devil has no new tactics. The lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are all common temptations for every man, woman, boy and girl. When it comes to oppression of the enemy, his tactic has not changed either. Tearing down our faith has always been one of the most popular attacks of the enemy; and that is probably because it has been so effective.
The devil tries to corner us; to get us in a scenario where we feel no help or hope from the Lord. How many times has the adversary made you feel cornered and said to you Now where is your God? This seed of doubt is intended to do one thing; to pull you out of faith. If the devil can ever pull you from a place of faith, then he can get an advantage. Faith is how we receive from God. Faith is how we appropriate God’s protection. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him (God).
God allows trials in our lives not just to make us stronger, but to reveal His faithfulness to you. God has a track record in those who’ve placed their trust in Him. He never has failed. He has never disappointed. He has never let anyone down who has trusted Him. So why should I be troubled when new storms come? Why should every new trial bring new doubt when in every trial, God has come through? We really have no right to doubt God’s faithfulness. Satan would love to corner you; to completely compass you around and then taunt you in your mind and say I’ve got you. Now where is your God that you trusted in? You should have a clear answer to this question.
So what shall I do when the devil attempts to encompass me about and say now where is your God? Our response should be obvious and easy. It should be My God is with me. He promised He’d never leave me nor forsake me. He will give me victory over you in Jesus name! He will always cause me to triumph. Who shall separate me from the love of God? Shall distress, or things present or things to come…Psalm 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
