Boldly into the Holiest
Daily Devotion for December 28th
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh, And having an high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19-22
Can anyone look upon God and live? Can flesh stand in the presence of God? From the beginning, these were fears in approaching God. Before Jesus’ sacrifice, it was impossible. However after the cross, access to God was made. It was revealed in how the veil was rent in twain from top to bottom, as well as many other truths. It’s through His blood and His blood alone this access is granted.
In the temple, there as a place called the Holiest; the Holiest of all and the Holy of Holies. These names all described the place in the temple where God came down to meet with man. It was never without blood. Once the blood was spilled on the mercy seat on the ark of the covenant, that blood satisfied God’s demands for atonement to reconcile man’s need for forgiveness of sin. Once that forgiveness was given, God would come and commune with man.
As we see in Hebrews, Jesus’ blood has given us access not only to the throne, but also to the Holiest of all. The High Priest in the old covenant was not guaranteed to leave the temple alive. It all depended on the purity of the sacrifice. But your access is guaranteed because Jesus’ blood is pure and holy. Not just access, but boldness to enter. We may come with confidence and commune with our Holy Father. If you’re truly born again, you know this truth because of our ability to enter God’s presence when we pray and worship. His presence is so wonderful and cannot be described with words. It has to be experienced to be appreciated.
One day, we shall all stand before God. Only those who have the blood applied will be able to enter God’s presence; and therefore Heaven. If the blood is not over your life, you will not enter His presence. Only Hell will be the eternity. It all boils down to this one simple truth; will you accept the blood of Jesus Christ over your sin, or will you not? There is access to God and all of His benefits now if you choose Him. If you reject His blood, then there will be Hell on earth while you’re here and only to enter into a literal Hell when you die. The choice could not be clearer. We have access to God now by faith in His blood, but it will become a reality when we enter the Glory land. It’s all about the blood of Jesus!
