From Glory to Glory
Daily Devotional for December 7th
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18
Do people influence you when you speak to them? Does a person’s attitude or personality effect you when your in their presence? Most of the time, the answer is yes. The same is true of God. Although righteousness comes by faith in Christ and walking in that faith daily, there is another amazing truth regarding how we are changed into the image of Christ. There are some things you will only get by being in God’s presence. To some, the presence of God is a foreign language. However, each and every genuine child of God enjoys a communion in God’s presence.
Apostle Paul revealed in this chapter some amazing things that the presence of God will do. Have you noticed when you are ushered into the God’s presence, your zeal, determination and desire to live for God increases? Have you also noticed that there are times when your desire to the things of God ebbs? This is all based upon your abiding in God’s presence or not. God’s presence brings everything in your life on notice; good or bad. It also allows you to know God’s character like nothing else will.
In Isaiah 6, the prophet Isaiah was changed in a way that nothing else would have changed him. He confessed he was a man of unclean lips… when he got in the presence of God. Was he of unclean lips before this? Yes, but he was changed when he was in the presence of the Almighty. God’s presence will do what nothing else can. If you are not changed into the image of Christ, it is a sign that you’ve not been in His presence on a regular basis.
In Revelation 5, the angels are flying around the throne continually declaring Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God Almighty! Not because they are commanded to do so, but because there is an intense awareness of God’s holiness when you are in His presence. We too will be aware of His holiness in His presence. There are some things that you will increase in, but only in the presence of God. We take on God’s character when in His presence. We take on His desires in His presence. God is love. Love for people and desire to see lost people saved, healed, delivered and set free only come in the presence of God.
We are changed into the same image from Glory to Glory. Change into the image of Christ only comes when we are in His Glory; His presence. When you read this chapter, you see that God’s glory and His presence are synonymous. Each time we enter His presences, change will come. Your character will be molded more and more into Christ. We enter the presence of God through prayer and worship. When we hunger for God through prayer, worship and seeking Him, He will not disappoint. He desires more to commune with you than you do with Him.
