Pray For Our Leaders
Daily Devotional for November 9th
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Great nations, governments, places of influence and power are all ordained of God. Romans 13. Their function is to execute judgment on evil and maintain order in the respective region they govern. Regardless of what anyone may say, there can be no government without spiritual influence. Great nations are influenced by the Spirit of God and bring peace to a chaotic world. Sadly, the powers of darkness control the majority of them.
Satan is sly in his attack plan. He knows that if he can turn the leaders, then he will automatically get those under them. This is why leaders must be anointed to that position. The sad truth though is the majority seek places of leadership for selfish gain; and in doing so, they open up to themselves an open wide door for the devil to gain control.
Paul revealed in Ephesians that we wrestle against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. This means that the greatest battles for every Christian is; we wrestle against the spiritual powers that govern the kingdoms of this world.
We are instructed in God’s word to pray for our leaders. It doesn’t matter whether we agree with their agenda or not, our responsibility is to pray and make intercession for them. Even though someone may be anointed for the office they hold and are firmly committed to the Lord, it doesn’t stop them from becoming vulnerable. Our responsibility is to pray that the evil powers of Hell will not influence their judgment. Your influence in prayer is far greater than you may realize. If we will pray for our leaders; Kings, presidents, prime ministers, preachers, deacons, church leaders, etc. then God can and will change things.
