The Faithful Remnant
Daily Devotional for October 11th
Except the Lord of host had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. Isaiah 1:9
America’s spiritual decline today is a greater than that of other nations. It cannot be compared to other nations in the sense that America has been given great light through the gospel that has been so freely preached unto us. But with all of the rejection taking place across country and around the world, there is still a faithful remnant of believers in Jesus Christ. You represent a people who are despised by the world, but not forsaken by the Lord. We may be cast down, but we are not destroyed. If you are truly born again, then God is in you and what the world does to you, it does to Him. (Acts 9:5)
Abraham pled for the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah once the Lord revealed to him that destruction was coming soon. What hurt Abraham most though was that his family lived there. I cannot stress how important and powerful your prayer of intercession is for your lost family and the whole nation for that matter. Abraham was able to intercede for the grievously wicked twin cities with the idea that if only ten righteous people were found in the city, God would have spared it. Do you realize that ten righteous people would have prevented two cities from total destruction? You may ask today, why has the judgment of God not come to America as of yet? The answer is simple; the faithful remnant.
The remnant is the seed in which God will use to reignite, revive, and restore the things that have been lost in our country. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were part of a remnant during a time when all others had forsaken the Lord. Although they were few in number, they were committed to serving God and because of that commitment, God showed Himself mighty in a foreign land that He was still God. Friend, don’t worry about what is taking place in our world today, we are still serving a God who delights in His committed people. Just like Daniel and the three Hebrews, you’re part of a remnant that God will use to shew Himself mighty. We are living in a time where the Lord will do great things in the world if we will just keep the Lord number one. The faithful remnant are the key.
