Drawing the Line of Faith
Daily Devotional for October 1st
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. Mark 5:27-29
We talk of having faith, but many times the kind of faith we have is not a receiving faith. The evidence of this is in the many things we’ve asked God to do in our life we knew was His will, but it still did not come. We tend to walk away from these experiences frustrated and confused. We also push them out of our minds, but we should actually examine them to see why the promise did not come. Jesus said, be not faithless but believing. He also said ask and receive that your joy might be full. John 16:24 Jesus wants us to ask and receive. Tragically most of the time we ask and do not receive. This is not the will of God. Then what is wrong with our faith?
This woman with the issue of blood had no promise of healing. Her condition, by Levitical law, required her to not touch anyone or else she would cause them to become unclean. She honored that law which tells us she was a believer in God. However, she had no promise of healing. The only hope she possibly could have had was the testimonies of countless others who had been healed by Jesus. Which is why she came to Jesus.
However, she drew a line of faith. A line of faith; you may ask? Yes. The bible says For she said, if I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. This was her line of faith. Why was this important? Do you realize that your faith must draw a line somewhere and at some point? This means that faith will receive from God at a certain place. God has allowed you and I to choose that place. Some people will say, I believe God will heal my cancer when I complete the treatments. Others say, God will heal me when the surgery is complete. Some say, as soon as I pray God will take care of my problem. The common denominator in all of these is each person drew a line of faith where the said God would meet them, and God did. God will always meet you where your faith will believe Him! Always!
Some people will say they believe God but their faith never draws a line of demarcation. Unless you draw that line; unless you identify that exact place where God will meet you, then your faith is not a receiving faith. She said, if I touch his clothes, I shall be whole. She drew a line of faith; she identified a specific place where Jesus would touch her at. Once her faith established that place, Jesus honored her with healing.
Have you drawn the line of faith for your need? If not, then this is why you’ve not received from God. Once you establish a place in faith where you believe God will meet you, then God will come on the scene. The promise is real! God’s promises are true. We simply have to draw our line of faith like this woman did. Once we do, healing will come without fail.
