Whatsoever You Sow – Daily Devotion for July 7th

Whatsoever You Sow

Daily Devotional for July 7th

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:7-9

Even though our world is thrives on the clear auspices of cause and effect, work hard pays off, etc, many people refuse to recognize these laws also exist in the spirit. There is a very shocking belief in the world; and that is that some of our choices do not have consequences.  Our life is effected by the decisions we make whether they are right or wrong.  It is because God has created this world with certain laws.  Even some who believe in God have issue with the fact of our actions and their consequences.

God created a spiritual law in the beginning, and that is the law of sowing and reaping. Whether believer or unbeliever, this law is clearly seen by all.  The unbelieving world recognizes this as Karma, but God has established it. This truth should cause us to become aware of a few things.  First, can I examine my reaping to determine if I am sowing the right things?  Secondly, I should beware of the choices I make going forward because I will harvest in my own field what I attempt to plant in someone else’s.

Many Christians today are taught that our choices are null and void of consequence because we are saved. This could not be further from the truth.  Paul is warning the Galatian believers that, even though they had received the Lord Jesus, this law of sowing and reaping would continue in their lives.  Men do not gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles.  They gather grapes from vines and figs from trees.

You must beware of what you do to others. If you sow hatred, don’t be surprised when it comes back to you.  However, you do not have to fear of anything you have sown, if it is pure.  Being aware of reaping causes us to examine our seeds.  Let us sow righteous seed!  Let us sow love, peace, joy and righteousness in lives of others.  Those seeds will no doubt come to us as well.
