God’s Declaration of Independence
Daily Devotional for July 3rd
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, Isaiah 61:1-2a
As Americans, we will celebrate our independence soon. It’s truly a wonderful time of celebration. Our founding fathers grew tired of the spiritual oppression and shook of the chains of tyranny from Britain. They fled to this great land where they based our founding documents upon the bedrock of the word of God. Our liberty is a liberty that is sought by multitudes throughout the entire world. Although this liberty we have cannot be underscored, there is such a greater liberty that God has designed for us.
Satan brought chains of bondage and held mankind captive when he brought sin into the Garden of Eden. He also exercised lordship over mankind with his terrible oppression. But since that time, God had a plan; and that plan was that freedom and liberty be declared unto all men and women. Jesus echoed the words of Isaiah in this very scripture as He declared to the synagogue that “This day is this scripture fulfilled in you ears.” Luke 4:21.
Isaiah declared through inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that Christ would come with a specific message. His message would be, among other very wonderful things, to “proclaim liberty to the captives.” This is God’s declaration of your independence. Although some religious groups would criticize, God’s declaration is intended for you concerning everything the devil could ever attempt to hold you captive to. Because of Calvary, you can truly be free from every satanic oppression.
Do you realize that your freedom and liberty today was proclaimed years ago? Sadly, many people are still captive even though God has declared liberty to them. The only thing that holds them in bondage is that they will not claim the promise. Does Satan have you captive? You do not have to remain his slave. You can go free! The Kingdom of God is at hand! You can now reach out and claim the liberty Jesus promised. Are you a child of God but are still under a portion of Satan’s tyranny? Come to the King of kings! Give him your problem! Lay it at His feet! He will break the chains that hold you! Every single day can be a new day of freedom and liberty in Christ! It is found only in Jesus!
