The King in His Beauty

Daily Devotional for May 16th

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. Isaiah 6:1-3

While multitudes on earth are enjoying a life of sin, wickedness and fallen life without God, there is a people who are looking for greater things and preparing to leave this world. The church; those who have been called out of darkness, are looking for One to come and put a final stop to the decay of sin.  We are looking for our coming King; Jesus Christ Himself.

In the year that Israel’s temporary king died, Isaiah got a view of Israel’s eternal king. It was none other than Jesus Himself.  John confirms this in John 12:41.  Our eyes can become mesmerized on a lot of different things, but one thing is for sure, once our eyes view Jesus, nothing else will come close to comparing.  After Isaiah saw Jesus here, his entire life was changed.  He would become one of the most important prophets in Israel.

The world has a very strange view of Jesus. They disrespect Him, blaspheme His name, and even turn people away from Him when He came to free mankind from the captivity they were in.  They even mocked Him, spat on Him and plucked His beard.  There was such a despising of our Lord, but He loved and still loves this world.  But when you are oppressed, bound with chains and afflicted by Satan, there is nothing more beautiful than Jesus.

But to each who have been rescued from sin and Satan, Jesus is beautiful! He is the most beautiful sight my eyes have ever seen!  He is the fairest of ten thousand!  One of these days, we shall see the king in His beauty.  Isaiah 33:17  Do you know how beautiful Jesus is?  Every eye shall behold Jesus one day.  Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord!  There will be no denying the beauty of Jesus when our eyes look upon Him.  Every eye shall see Him.  Revelation 1:7.

  1. Dear Brethren, I honestly never thought that Isaiah saw JESUS on the throne. (I thought our Father in heaven, although He is impossible to comprehend). This opens up a new and greater understanding…even to imagine that He, Jesus, left such a magnificent throne of glory to be shamed, dishonored and crucified for us.
And, as you said, one day we will see what Isaiah saw!
This passage leads my heart to worship. Thank you very much.

  2. I was studying this along with preaching one evening and it became clear to me that it was Jesus. In particularly with the words John 12:40 which corresponds with Isaiah 6:10. I have read the word of God so speedily in the past that I have missed so much truth. In the last few years, the Holy Spirit has prompted me to slow down, meditate, read the same chapter 4 or 5 times back to back, pay attention to every word until I get the meaning to the best of my limited ability. I also love to read your insight and what the Lord has revealed to you. I love to hear your heart and how the Holy Spirit deals with you. It’s such a blessing!
