Don’t Stop Praying
Daily Devotional for May 6th
There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. Acts 10:1-2
We’ve read all throughout scripture, the effects that have taken place in the world by prayer. Prayer is one of the most powerful things that every Christian has. As a matter of fact, prayer is one of the most powerful things there is in the world! There are many men and women of God who were used of God in great and mighty ways. The secret was their commitment and dedication to prayer.
The very thought of prayer reveals a submission to the Lord. The existence of prayer shows that you realize your inability to change circumstances in this life. If you do not pray regularly, what message does that send to yourself and to God? A man or woman who does not pray is implying to the world that they have no need for help from the Lord. We all need the Lord greatly in our lives. Prayer is one of the ways our inner man gains spiritual strength. We gain spiritual strength through prayer, worship, reading/studying Gods word, and fellowship with other Christians.
Life, with all of its uncertainty and ability to vex every child of God, has a way of adversely affecting us by tearing us down and tries to bring us into its bondage and woe. However, prayer is the means by which we can “Cast our Cares on Him; for He cares for us!” Prayer is precious in the eyes of God. God longs to hear from you and me.
Satan tempts us in so many different ways. The greatest battle you’ll ever face from Satan is he will resist you from praying. When you decide to pray, the devil will attempt to refocus your purpose. When your in the midst of praying, distractions will come to get your mind off of coming unto the Lord. Satan knows that prayer attacks his plans! Prayer diffuses his arsenals. Prayer disarms and defeats his armies. Don’t stop praying friend! God will do great things for you if you will persist in prayer.
